2017-2018 School Year

Echoes Coffee House/Open Mic series invites STUDENTS, TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, and STAFF to perform and attend.  The more the merrier.   Are you a poet/rapper, singer, musician, storyteller, step maven, comedian, juggler, improv/drama club member, painter, artist of any kind?  If yes, please share your talent!  Echoes Coffee House is a collaboration with Art Club, which displays pieces behind performers, and Assertive Teens Against Cancer (A.T.A.C.), a club that has raised about $30,000 for cancer research.   Admission price is $2.00, which goes directly to cancer research.  Food and beverages will be provided.


Here are the upcoming dates for Echoes Coffee House/Open Mic in the Library Media Center, from 2:45-4pm.  Admission price is $2.00.  Food and beverages will be provided.

Some Events from the 2016-2017 School Year
 The following Juniors earned a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for submitting poems to Representative Frank Pallone’s 2nd Annual Poetry Contest in honor of the 21st Anniversary of National Poetry Month:   Qainat Kashmiri, Daisy Saavedra, McKenna Bryne, Shivani Chandrasekaran, Janushkaa Dharmesh, Ahmad Mahmood, Maahum Hassan, Isha Sharma, Rimsha Najmi, Aysha Khawaja, and Sofia Vargas.
April 20:  EHS Poetry Slam, a special event
   Jessica Momanyi won the $100 prize for Writing and Performance.  Destiny Valerio won Honorable Mention for Writing.
A Mini 10-Minute Stage and Screen Play Festival in the EHS Creative Writing class

  Best 10-Minute Playwrights/Screenwriters in the EHS Creative Writing Class:  Terrel Grier, David Lupowitz, Stephannie Morin, and Ananya Pandya

October Special Event:  Halloween at the High will feature “Haunted House Mystery” by students in Creative Writing and Ms. DiOrio

January Special Event:  A Candlelight Vigil for Peace organized by the French Club that will feature poets from the Creative Writing class
Thursday, April 28:  Echoes celebrates poetry for National Poetry Month
Special Events in May:  Cate, a student who has written novels, will be our guest lecturer in Creative Writing class.  She will help students develop their first drafts of a novel.
