The Way of the World is War

A historian finds no shock

In mindless death and killing

For since man has picked up sticks and stones

He has drunk on blood and flesh

World War III will be fought with bombs and drones

But all World War Iv have is sticks and bones

And even in that inevitable wasteland

The Way of the World will be war

With our skeletons growing from dust like trees

A testament to the world before

War, war never changes

Just the people with their bloodied faces

But the Way of the World is Peace

There are always those who rise above the call of arms

To open theirs in gentle caresses and sweet embraces

So long as these people exist

The Way of the World is Peace

Where we are all unique but in heart the same

A world that makes progress out of war’s bones

That chooses to build cities and refuges from those sticks and stones

War is unnecessary, but it still exists,

War, war never changes,

But neither does peace

“The Way of the World is War,” yes,

But after then

The Way of the World is Peace
