Family of Time

a free verse poem

by Qainat

Tick–

Seconds pass quickly.

Long, slender arms reach out

To grab whatever lies in their path,

Continuously moving forward

And never stopping.

–Tock

Tick-Tock

Tick–

Minutes pass quickly.

Lengthy, strong arms reach out

To aid their brother,

Skipping and tripping

Yet forever moving forward.

–Tock

Tick-tock–

Hours pass quickly.

Short, stout hands reach out

After their brothers,

Chasing those that can never be caught.

Tiny footprints leave their marks just a few ways behind.

–Tick-tock

The clock rewinds,

The cycle renews,

The sand marks left stranded vanish

Before appearing again.

The family suns with each other once more.

Tick-tock–

Tick-tock
